The Marylhurst School Board of Trustees Is Seeking New Members
The Marylhurst School Board of Trustees plays a vital role in shaping our school's long-term vision, strategy, and sustainability. Working largely through a set of standing committees—Executive, Governance, Finance, Advancement/Development, Site, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)—the board is deeply engaged in meaningful work that supports every aspect of our school community.
At its core, the Board ensures that our Mission, Vision, and Values guide every policy and strategic decision. Trustees help uphold legal and regulatory compliance, maintain financial health, support and evaluate the Head of School, and lead with a forward-thinking, long-range perspective.
We are currently seeking new members—both from within our school community and the broader public—who are passionate about the mission of The Marylhurst School and want to contribute to its future. Our current Board includes individuals with backgrounds in:
Education
Small Business & Management
Finance & Legal Professions
Construction & Site Planning
Human Resources
Healthcare and Community Advocacy
While each board member's professional experience is unique, successful trustees often share core skills such as strategic thinking, financial literacy, active listening, strong communication, leadership, community engagement, and a deep commitment to equity and mission alignment.
If you—or someone you know—has a passion for progressive education and Marylhurst's long-term success, we would love to hear from you. We welcome diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences at the table.
Are you interested in learning more about joining the Board of Trustees? Please contact Fred Wienberg, Board President, at fred.boardmember@themarylhurstschool.org or Leif Gustavson, Head of School, at leifg@themarylhurstschool.org to start the conversation.
