Health & Safety
These are some of the many ways we are helping to keep your children safe while at Marylhurst.
-
The Marylhurst School is committed to providing a safe and secure environment. We routinely conduct fire, earthquake and lockdown drills so students, teachers, and administrators are well prepared in the event of an actual emergency.
-
The Marylhurst School typically follows the West Linn-Wilsonville School District when it comes to preschool closures and the Oregon City School District for Heron Creek closures. To receive a text message or email alert of snow closures, sign up for the Flash Alert at www.flashalert.net/id/marylhurstschool. All closures and delays will also be emailed and posted on our social media pages.
If WLWV schools are closed, the preschool campus is closed. If OCSD schools are closed, the Heron Creek campus is closed.
If WLWV schools announce a two-hour delayed start, preschool classes are canceled for the day. If OCSD schools have a two-hour delayed start, PreK-8 classes at Heron Creek begin at 10:30 am.
The Marylhurst School extended-care program does not operate when school is closed due to inclement weather.

It is essential that parents provide emergency kits for their children to keep on site at the school. Information about emergency kit contents is distributed at the beginning of each school year. Contents include:
Childs name and kit date written in permanent marker on the outside of the bag.
3 x 5 card with child’s name, parent’s name, address and important phone numbers; parents, doctors, dentist, family/friends (include at least 1 out of state contact).
1 pair of underwear
2 small bottles of water
2 pull-top lid cans of food (tuna, Vienna sausage, chicken etc.)
1 small pack of tissues
1 packet of candy (something that won’t melt)
1 purse size poncho OR large garbage bag
1 small flashlight with battery
1 family photograph and comforting note to child

State law requires that the school keep immunization records on file for each student. Proof of immunization, or a non-medical or medical exemption, must be signed prior to a child’s attendance at school.

We have complied with the state of Oregon's Health Authority mandate for inventorying all lead pipes in public drinking water systems statewide.
The OHA has accepted our inventory and inspection reports and confirmed that our water system does not have lead service lines.
Several conclusions about our system made this determination. By visual inspection, we were able to determine that there are no lead pipes in our wellhouse (source) and no lead pipes present in underground junctions or at the shut-off valves directly in line with our buildings. (Service lines) We also have inherited a history of and continue to record exemplary results when passing our lead test requirements on campus.
