Dancing Under the Northern Lights: A Night of Magic and Fun!
Last Friday, our school community gathered at the Redland Grange for an all-school dance. The theme? “The Magical Northern Lights.” With 176 students and family members in attendance, the night promised excitement, dancing, crafts, community, and a touch of wonder.
The Grange was transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors! Sparkling lights with all of the colors of the auroras lit up the space. The decorations committee did an amazing job creating a joyful environment for our students and families to gather and have some fun!
Our talented dance committee curated a music playlist that was enjoyed by all of the ages in attendance. From the classics to modern tunes, there was something for everyone. The evening felt like recess—joyful chaos that was loud and fun. We had lots of laughter and lots of dancing!
The dance floor witnessed some sweet dance moves. We had parents twirling alongside their children, breakdancers spinning and the parents showing the kids how it was done with the Cupid Shuffle. The stage area was a big hit with the kids. Against a northern lights-themed backdrop of swirling lights and two trees, they posed, laughed, and made memories, while parents snapped pictures.
When the music became too loud or little feet needed a break, the basement became a quiet spot of creativity. Our volunteers had set up craft stations with cookie decorating supplies, toys, and other fun activities. Everyone enjoyed pizza, cookies, cupcakes, and fruit that were provided by the Parent Association and generous donors.
As the night drew to a close, tired feet and smiling faces told the story. Our “Magical Northern Lights” dance was a success! Energetic, wild, and utterly fun.
Thank you to the many volunteers who helped make our dance memorable, especially our amazing Chairs: Jen Hecht, Beth Dereszynski, and Sarah LaPrade. Your hard work and vision for this dance helped to make it a huge success!
