Celebrating World Kindness Day with the Meadowlarks West

Yesterday, under the guidance of Teacher Melissa, our Meadowlarks West class (2nd/3rd grades) celebrated World Kindness Day in a truly heartwarming way, beginning with a brainstorming session on how to show each other more kindness at school. The students came up with thoughtful ideas ranging from saying please and thank you to helping one another and checking to ensure a friend is OK if they fall. This brainstorming helped spark ideas and set the tone for the day’s activities as each student reflected on ways to make their community feel more welcoming and supportive.

The Meadowlarks West then brought one of their kindness ideas to life by creating a “Shout Outs” poster. This special space allows them to write notes recognizing acts of kindness, like helping with a project, offering a kind word, or sharing materials. Through these shoutouts, they can celebrate how they support one another daily.

As a group, they also decided to do something kind for their fellow students in Meadowlarks East. They spent part of the afternoon cleaning out the coat room, organizing jackets, and tidying up shared spaces to make it welcoming for everyone. It was a simple yet meaningful act that reminded us all how small actions can make a big difference.

We’re proud of our Meadowlarks for embracing kindness, thoughtfulness, and teamwork. Thank you, Meadowlarks West, for your commitment to making our school community a kinder place!
