What is the Parent & Caregiver Association?

The Marylhurst School promotes a strong partnership between families and the school. In many ways, parents are the backbone of The Marylhurst School experience, and it is their dedication and involvement that drive many of the activities that are so beloved at TMS.  The primary role of the PCA is to promote a sense of community among the parents and caregivers of our school, to provide a strong communication link between the parent/caregiver body and the school (faculty and administration), to provide the school with support in the classroom (Room Parents) and with assistance in administrative tasks and school activities, and to provide enhancements to existing programs within the school.

  • PCA Meetings are typically held on the second Friday of each month in the Trillium Building on the school campus. Please check the calendar as some meetings have been adjusted due to conflicts.

  • Interested in becoming a Room Parent this year? To organize and streamline the process for our faculty, interested volunteers must submit a simple application form in order to be considered for this rewarding role.

    Being a Room Parent is a meaningful experience because:

    • You’ll attend the monthly PCA meetings and serve as a conduit between the school, your teacher, and other families in your child’s class.

    • You’ll get to be part of the planning and fun of the PCA and support your child’s teacher as needed.

    • Your expected family service hours will be fulfilled for the year!

    If you have good communication and organizational skills and are able to commit to attending PCA meetings, managing emails, and coordinating activities throughout the school year, please consider applying to become a Room Parent!

    To apply, be sure to fill out the Room Parent Application by September 13th. If you’re interested in more than one Room Parent role, please fill out one application per class.
