PARENT ASSOCIATION

Marylhurst partners with families to provide an exceptional education for our students, and the Parent Association is an integral part of that relationship. In addition to providing a vital communication link between parents and the school, the goals of the Parent Association are to foster community and school spirit, enhance the educational experience through a variety of activities and events, and to support the growth of Marylhurst facilities and programs. All parents are welcome to attend the Parent Association meetings. Participation by all members of the community is encouraged and greatly appreciated. 

Parent Association Staff

K-8 Co-Chair – Tara Ulbricht, serving her second year on the PA executive team, represents the primary and middle school programs. Co-Chairs work collaboratively to provide leadership and vision for the Parent Association through leading monthly meetings, supervising activities and fundraisers, communicating with school leadership to create goals and plans, reporting to the Board of Directors and overseeing all PA committees. Tara’s family has been at Marylhurst since 2012. She loves our school and the amazing community of parents and educators that share values. In her spare time, Tara enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, camping, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
 
Preschool Co-Chair – Misten Daniels, serving her second year on the PA executive team, represents the preschool programs. Co-Chairs work collaboratively to provide leadership and vision for the Parent Association through leading monthly meetings, supervising activities and fundraisers, communicating with school leadership to create goals and plans, reporting to the Board of Directors and overseeing all PA committees. In her three years as a Marylhurst preschool parent, Misten has enjoyed getting to know other families and learning from our incredible group of teachers. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, being with friends and family, baking, exploring new restaurants, and enjoying the outdoors.
 
Treasurer – Nichole Dunn is responsible for financial matters of the PA which includes preparing the annual budget; administering the accounting policy, procedures, and guidelines as established by the Treasurer of the Board of Directors; keeping proper records; providing regular reports to the Executive Committee and the PA body; and preparing an end-of-year report. Nichole’s family has been at Marylhurst since 2013 and she loves that the school likes to dive in to explore the weeds rather than viewing them from the edges. She also enjoys reading (and listening to audiobooks), running, baking, and creating. 

Secretary – Heidi Norrington is responsible for recording, creating, maintaining, and distributing Parent Association communications. She has worked in the local real estate industry for 20 years providing brokerage management, compliance, and development, most currently as Operation Coordinator at a real estate brokerage with locations in the valley and the beautiful Oregon coast. Heidi is looking forward to using her marketing and development background to further the PA mission.

 

Volunteer Coordinator – Amy Roberts notifies parents of volunteering opportunities via sign-up sheets at school, text, email and updating the volunteer job list on The Marylhurst School website.  Amy’s family joined Marylhurst in 2014 and is grateful for the welcoming community. In her spare time Amy likes napping… and also baking, running, reading and yurt glamping.
