In honor of our commitment to developmentally appropriate practice, there is not an application process for preschool. Preschool Open Enrollment begins on during the annual Open House and continues until we reach capacity. Submit completed request forms with a copy of the child’s birth certificate and the non-refundable $100 enrollment fee*. Requests are processed in the order received with priority given to currently enrolled families and siblings whose materials are received by March 1. Preschool enrollment does not guarantee future admission into primary programs.
*Enrollment fee is waived for Parent/Child Twos Program.
K - 8th Programs
In order to create a cohort of learners who grow together, enrollment in primary and middle school programs requires an application. Applications for K–8-grade programs including a copy of the child’s birth certificate, previous school records, and the non-refundable $100 fee have an initial priority deadline of February 5, 2017. However, applications continue to be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis as space is available; 5th – 8th-grade candidates are encouraged through May 15th as we enter the final phase of our middle school expansion.
Once all parts of the application have been filed —parent short answer questions, student self-portrait, teacher recommendation—a student visitation day and parent conference will be scheduled. The mandatory kindergarten visit program is February 25th from 9:00 to noon; upper-grade applicants participate in a full-day classroom visitation at their current grade level.
The Marylhurst School seeks students who will flourish in a progressive educational environment of emergent pedagogy. Admission and re-enrollment into the community are solely at the discretion of The Marylhurst School and depends upon appropriately mature intellectual, emotional and social capacities. To this end, admission for both the child and the family include, but are not limited to a commitment to academics, conduct, and a positive contribution to the school community. The Marylhurst School seeks to admit students who exhibit qualities inherent to our vision and mission. Ultimately, the School’s evaluation of both its ability to enhance the growth of the child towards our core goals and the family’s commitment to enriching the school community determines whether admission is granted and enrollment is continued.
